Retirement Savings – RRSPs

Retirement Savings – RRSPs

Is Retirement in Your Future?

Fishing for weeks at a time? Hitting the open road in an RV? Enjoying the family cottage with friends and grandkids? No matter what your plans, it’s never too late (or too early) to start a retirement savings plan.

A registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) is a government-approved plan where you save money for your retirement years. RRSPs have special tax benefits that defer current income tax, potentially making you save faster. They’re the single biggest tax break available to Canadians.

Retirement Savings Plans with Hubert

With Hubert, just like our other investment products, all your RRSP deposits are guaranteed without limit by the Deposit Guarantee Corporation of Manitoba. You can keep your RRSP in a variable rate plan or invest it in something long term.

You can transfer a RRSP to Hubert, but please keep in mind at this time we cannot accept any locked-in retirement accounts. Any fees incurred from transferring a RRSP to Hubert from outside financial institutions are your responsibility, however, Hubert doesn’t charge a fee to transfer RRSPs to an outside financial institution. To transfer your RRSP to Hubert, fill out the RRSP / RRIF transfer form and send it our way.

You’ll need to de-register your RRSP by the end of the year that you turn 71. You can either take the money out, transfer to a registered retirement income fund (RRIF) or purchase an annuity.
